Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Tesserae (the "Service"), operated by Tesserae Finance LLC ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Tesserae is a personal finance tracking tool that lets you manually record and visualize your finances (net worth, budgets, projections, and related features). It is a software tool for your personal use.

2. Not financial advice

The Service and any calculations, projections, or estimates it produces are for informational and organizational purposes only. They are not financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice, and should not be relied upon as such. Projections are hypothetical and based on the inputs and assumptions you provide; actual results will differ. You are solely responsible for your financial decisions and should consult a qualified professional.

3. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

4. Subscriptions, free trial, and billing

• The Service is offered on a subscription basis with two plans: $2.99/month or $29.99/year. Prices are in U.S. dollars and may be exclusive of applicable taxes, which may be added at checkout.
• New subscribers receive a 7-day free trial (one trial per person). Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically and your payment method is charged for the plan you selected.
• Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or yearly, depending on your plan) until canceled.
• Cancellation: you can cancel at any time through the app or your payment provider. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access to paid features until the end of the period you've already paid for (or until the end of your trial, if canceling during the trial). Canceling does not delete your account or your data.
• Refunds: except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, and no refunds or credits are provided for partial billing periods or unused time — including the remainder of a yearly plan after cancellation. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at support@tesseraefinance.com within 30 days of the charge and we'll review it; we may grant refunds at our discretion.
• Payments are processed by our third-party providers (Stripe, via RevenueCat). We do not store your full payment card details. By subscribing you also agree to those providers' applicable terms.
• We may change subscription pricing or plan features with at least 30 days' notice (for example, by email or in the app). Price changes take effect at your next renewal, so you can cancel before the new price applies.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to access other users' data, disrupting or reverse-engineering the Service, or using it for unlawful purposes.

6. Your data

You retain ownership of the information you enter. Our handling of your data is described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you input.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will always be available or accurate.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or financial losses arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notifying you in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in Ohio, to the extent permitted by law.
